The Operation

Independent intelligence
for the real economy.

// What Is This

Breaking Metrics is an independent intelligence operation. It tracks the forces that move money before prices adjust — the kind of structural shifts that are visible in the data long before they show up in consensus narratives.

The focus is mechanics. That means geopolitics, policy, market structure, and capital flows as systems to understand, not events to react to. Every issue starts from the question of why something is happening and who it actually benefits, rather than just cataloguing what happened.

"This isn't about prediction. It's about recognizing structure early so decisions aren't made late."

Most financial media covers price. Breaking Metrics covers the machinery behind price. Labor markets in heavy industry. Energy supply constraints and where they originate. How policy moves through construction and manufacturing before it reaches earnings calls. These are sectors that generate enormous amounts of public data and receive remarkably little serious analysis.

The newsletter runs free and weekly on Substack. Each issue goes deep on one or two signals from the real economy, working through what the data actually shows, what it means structurally, and what it implies for how capital should be positioned. There are no hot takes and no macro tourism.

Alongside the newsletter, Breaking Metrics builds software for the people who operate inside these industries. Fraywire handles live market and economic data. Glideslope covers news intelligence and signal detection. urIssue is built for complex project operations. CivilXL handles construction project management from budget to closeout. All four platforms share the same starting point: the real economy has been badly underserved by existing tools.

If you are trying to understand how money actually moves in the real economy and benefit from it rather than just read about it, this is built for you.
